FAQ’s

To help you and your child settle in we thought it might be useful if we answered the following Frequently Asked Questions.

When do you open and close?

We offer flexible attendance, opening at 8:30am to 2:45 Monday to Thursday and 8:30 to 1pm on Friday, with drop of times, 8.30am,9am,9.30am,12pm or 1pm, and collection times 12pm, 1pm or 2.45 pm. Children attending 12pm to 1pm will require a packed lunch. We generally follow the school terms. Actual dates for the beginning and end of terms are provided in the preschool newsletter.

What should I do on arrival?

A member of staff will be on the door to greet you and your child. Once inside please take your child to hang up any coats, bags etc. We encourage the children to participate in self-registration so please take your child to the name board and help them to find their name and place it within their keyperson’s group.

We also ask that you provide some fruit for your child at snack time (named) and a drink of water which can be accessed throughout the session and a healthy pack lunch if your child is staying until 1pm or 2:45pm.

What should I do if my child will not be attending a session?

Please inform us if your child will not be attending any session e.g. going on holiday.

What should I do if my child is ill?

Please inform us with a call or text if your child will not be attending due to illness. If there has been any sickness or diarrhoea please wait 48 hours before returning to the preschool.

Anything else I need to know?

  • Please name everything! Whilst your child may be able to recognise their own things at home it can be quite different at preschool.
  • Please don’t allow your child to wear their best clothes. We regularly have paint, glue and play dough out and it goes everywhere! It is also advisable to keep precious things (to you or your child) at home to avoid any upset.
  • On hot days, please put sun cream on your child before they come to preschool and please bring them a hat. When it’s wet under foot, wellies are useful.
  • When you collect your child from preschool please remember to check their drawer for any artwork / newsletters etc.
  • Your child will be sent home with a library book. When it has been read please return it to their folder so that they can choose another.

One final note: We pride ourselves on being a happy and approachable preschool. Please feel free to talk to or ask questions of any member of staff or committee. We are all here to make your child’s time with us a happy and fulfilling experience leading to a flying start at school!
